In more than a half century of operation, we've moved four times, opened a second location, but we've always stuck close to home. This is where we live, where we work, where we look forward to seeing our customers and serving our customers season after season. We've come to know hundreds of our customers by name, and we like that. We also like what we do for a living: selling and servicing the outdoor power equipment products that help people handle tough jobs, give them pride in the appearance of their properties, and just plain make life easier.
If you see something you like on this web site,
tell us. If you feel something's lacking, we'd like to hear that too. Our approach may change with the times, but our interest in your satisfaction is just as much a priority as it was
60 years ago.
Over
60 Years of Service to the People of New England
At Allen lawnmower, our company history is one of continuous growth under one family. Purchased in 1947 by Eugene S. McLean Sr. and his wife Clara, Allen Lawnmower is today owned by their sons, Donald and Eugene "Sonny" McLean. In 1991, Sonny's son Joseph McLean joined the company, becoming the third generation to carry forward Allen's tradition of service. As Allen outgrew its original site in Springfield, Mass., the company found it required more space for showroom, repairs, warehousing and administration. Allen Lawnmower moved first to West Springfield, then to Main Street in Agawam, where it has been located since 1975. Thanks in large part to its extensive and loyal base of satisfied customers, the company has continued to expand both its market area and product offerings. In 1993, a second Allen Lawnmower location was opened on Hazard Ave. in Enfield, Conn., to better serve Connecticut residents.
Allen's employees have longstanding experience in the outdoor power equipment industry, matched only by the importance they place on every detail of customer service. Our standards begin with the nuts and bolts of the quality the brands we carry. Every piece of equipment we sell is assembled and tested by our team of factory trained technicians.
At the heart of Allen Lawnmower's service is our state-of-the-art diagnostic and testing equipment, operated by our own power equipment specialists. When equipment is in our care, it is protected indoors in our 60,000 sq. ft. service facility - never left outdoors. And we stock more than $1 million in parts, the largest computerized parts inventory in the area.
Pickup and delivery of equipment is always free when it's purchased from Allen - that's true for our homeowner and commercial customers alike. Need a house call? We have a fleet of radio-dispatched service vehicles, ready to get to any problem, fast.
When customers make their living with our commercial equipment, Allen Lawnmower keeps them on the job: toll-free number to reach Allen quickly, without charge; a comprehensive parts catalog with special discounts, and express service on parts. There's even a loaner program to minimize downtime.
Expert service that's friendly and reliable - it's more than customer convenience, it's the way that Allen Lawnmower does business every day - yesterday, today and tomorrow.
